One month has passed since the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on 25 April 2015, aftershocks has subsided, nervousness has decreased but the fear lingers on. We are still having difficult time convincing ourselves and our team that worst are over. We are trying our best to get back to our normal routine but the scars left by the earthquakes we see everyday around our houses and neighbourhood are making it difficult.
To erase the scars we have started repair works at our school building. We started repairs from the Primary school buildings so as to have our classrooms ready for our students. We want them to feel safe in their classrooms when the primary school resumes from 31 May 2015. Thankfully the hazardous houses that were damaged during the earthquake are starting to be demolished; making us feel little safer to walk on the streets.
But number of the producer’s houses affected by the earthquake has been increasing, with number reaching 163 with 62 collapsed houses (47%), 52 with major cracks (39%), 19 with minor cracks (14%) and 31 yet to receive the details of damage.
Thank you all for sending in your thoughts, prayers and generous support to us. We still need lot of support to help rebuild the houses for all the affected.
